WCA – weekly updates newsletter – week of April 29th

Here are this weeks updates!

1. WCA is looking into starting a PTO!

The WCA schoolboard is interested in beginning a PTO. A flyer was sent home this week indicating this decision, and informaing you of a meeting on May 10th. There is also a survey collecting your input before the meeting. (CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION)

2. Changes to the school calendar

Please be aware of the following update to THIS YEARS calendar. Originally our plan was to have Friday May 20th as a professional development day, with no school for students. However, adjustments had to be made to fit in other events, causing this to change. There will now be no school on Friday, May 6th and we will be in school on Friday May 20th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. 

3. Next school year’s calendar

Next year’s calendar has been released. Please be aware that, as always is the case, the calendar is subject to change.

4. Spring Concert – Thursday, May 5

The Spring Concert date has been determined for Thursday, May 5th at 6:30 p.m. here at the Vine Campus. We will be enjoying a variety of songs and skits with our K-12th graders led by both our drama teacher Brian South, and new music teacher Brenda Locke. Please join us in celebrating Spring, our new location, and more goodness to come! 

5. Campus Green Up – Tuesday, May 10

We will be sprucing up the outside of our Vine Campus on Tuesday, May 10th. Students will have the opportunity to get outside into the fresh air and help plant flowers in the surrounding flower beds.

6. Donate flowers for green up day!

If you would like to donate a tray or two of perennials, you can bring them to the school at our Spring concert or the following Monday!

7. Graduation Dates

The following dates have been determined for upcoming graduation ceremonies:

  • PK/K – Thursday, May 26th at 6:30 p.m. at Websterville Baptist Church.
  • 6th/8th/12th grade – Thursday, June 2nd at 6:30 at the Vine Campus. 

8. Sonlight Announcement

The Sonlight Program has a total of 39 slots available. If you have not yet turned in the registration papers for your child/children to attend this awesome summer program, please do so before the slots are all taken. They fill up quickly. We must have registration papers in order to hold your spot!

9. WCA Enrollment

Are your children attending WCA next year? Even if they are not new students, please make sure to submit your registration papers along with the Registration Fee ($60 per student) & Book Fee ($185 per student) ASAP as we make plans going forward into the 2022-2023 school year.

10. Tick season is upon us!

As a reminder, spring is upon us, and as weather permits we are encouraging everyone to get outside. Please plan accordingly. The tick population is due to rise again this year. Our teachers do their best to keep students on the groomed lawns, and do visual checks of the children. We recommend checking children over when they arrive at home. 11. The Formal is coming, Saturday, May 7

Remaining balances ($25 after the deposit) are due to Brandi in the office NO LATER than Monday, May 2nd. Emails have been sent indicating your amount due. Saturday, May 7th – If you’d like to have photos taken outside down by the waterfront prior to boarding the Spirit of Ethan Allen, please arrive by 5:00 pm. We will board the boat at 6:00 pm.

12. Mud boots for the spring

Because of the dampness and mudiness of the season, please send your students to school with outside shoes or boots and inside footware to help us cut down on the mess in the school buildings.

13. Hot lunch menu is posted for May!

You can now begin toi sign your students up for hot lunch for the month of May. HERE’S THE LINK.
